María Gimeno

María Gimeno

María Gimeno was born in Zamora in 1970 and was educated in Spain and Italy. She graduated from the University Complutense in Madrid in 1996 in Fine Art and completed her training by studying photography and video.

María has had solo exhibitions in a number of Spanish galleries, as well as in Geneva, Belgrad, Berlin and the Yemen. She has taken part in ARCO, Dusseldorf Contemporary Art Fair (represented by Parra & Romero), Generaciones 02 and 04, and Circuitos de Artes Plásticas XIII. Having received the Fundación Marcelino Botín scholarship for Taller Jannis Kounellis (2009), she was chosen for the XXXIV Bancaja Prize in 2007. She was awarded first prize from the Museo de la Ciudad in sculpture in its competition for young artists in 1999. She also received the first prize at the “El Foro” competition in Pozuelo de Alarcón in 1996.
