ARCO Madrid 2025

In our proposal for ARCO Madrid 2025, our tenth year of participation in the art fair, we want to take a trip back in time to recover the project with which we made our debut in 2015: a duo project with Joan Hernández Pijuan (Barcelona, 1931-2005) and Giorgio Griffa (Turin, 1936).
In fact, we began our last gallery season, that of 2023-24, with a solo of the Catalan painter's work. In that exhibition, under the title #AusenciaPresencia ("Absence, Presence"), space and the void were clear protagonists, and we were able to attest to how Hernández Pijuan had captured such abstract ideas as air, silence and emptiness in his works.
A careful selection of these works on paper will accompany the piece that will be the central feature of the booth: “Dionisio due”. This is a second version of one of the most emblematic creations produced by Griffa in the eighties, which has been recovered and brought to the light for the first time through the Italian painter's participation with his proposal #MateriaSpirituale in our closing of the current gallery season, with the summer programme at Santa María de Bujedo de Juarros, in Burgos.
At the same time, we would like to complete this duo of great masters with winks of acknowledgement to our past presentations at ARCO, including in the other areas of the booth certain works by artists who have most often accompanied us in our projects over these ten years of participation in the fair, such as Simon Callery, Susana Solano, Regine Schumann and Claude Viallat.
