Between memory and imagination with Simon Quadrat at ARTESANTANDER 2025
With the desire to continue supporting contemporary figuration, our gallery presents for ARTESANTANDER 2025 a solo project by the British painter Simon Quadrat.
This project continues the line of work that, in previous editions, has allowed us to showcase recent works by artists such as Rosalía Banet, Angela Burson, and Anne Buckwalter, reaffirming once again our commitment to creators whose work offers a personal and distinctive perspective on contemporary painting.
Quadrat’s work, influenced by twentieth-century British and European art, draws heavily on memory and imagination, reinterpreting both through a deeply personal vision. Rather than simply recreating reality, his characters and everyday objects acquire an almost dreamlike quality.
His compositions—marked by an ambiguous, nostalgic, and silent atmosphere where time seems to have stood still—invite the viewer to reconstruct the stories implicit in each scene.
Quadrat’s ability to play with perspective, often challenging traditional conventions, and his skill in combining seemingly contradictory angles and points of view, add a layer of complexity to his compositions that never cease to surprise us.
