AERÓPOLIS

From the 28th January 2010 the Rafael Pérez Hernando Gallery presents “Aerópolis”, an exhibition by Eduardo Valderrey, who won the Creación Norte Scholarship in 2008. “Aerópolis” is part of the MalPais project, which has been continually rolled out since 1996 in various cities and urban spaces. Inspired by the clashes that arise between architecture, the city and civic identity, “Aerópolis” sets out to look at different airport spaces and buildings, which are in the process of transformation. MalPais analyses the direct relationship between the continual redefinitions and the records of the city’s boundaries, and suggests a series of structural and urban changes, laying open places whose principal characteristic is the absence of a definitive identity.
