Hands that reflect the mental state

-
Manual de la Imagen Mental. ST 01. Rotulador de tintas pigmentadas sobre papel croquis. Tres papeles superpuestos. 23,7 x 30 cm.

Closed hands, opened hands, hands on top of hands, hands, hands, and more hands – these make up the project “Hands that reflect the mental state”. This varied and multidisciplinary artist often uses paper for her pieces. Her haunting creations work in harmony with the pieces on display by our other artists. Although still young, Almudena Lobera has an impressive career behind her already and has won a number of prizes including the second prize at Premio ABC in 2011. The images have disappeared. Anonymous hands that do not leave a single trace are trying to show us something. However, our eyes do not see their message, our minds receive an insufficient projection in the retina, which forces us to imagine the pieces that are missing. In the room the images are coming and going and there are as many images as there are spectators, and they are the ones that are generated from the stimulus that is present in each piece. It is a rest for the eyes, but exercise for the mind. "Hands that reflect the mental state" offers a unique experience to viewers, allowing them to choose to think that nobody is exhibiting anything, or to think that they can project their own mental images on the incomplete visual images that the works depict.
